Dubai: Drivers across the UAE are advised to plan ahead as multiple road closures and traffic diversions are taking place in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Al Ain for ongoing infrastructure projects and metro expansion works. Here’s a full list of closures, dates, and alternative routes.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has closed the entry and exit points of Al Barsha South from Umm Suqeim Street until development works at the intersection are completed.

Since 22 June 2025, a five-month traffic diversion has been in place on Al Qudra Road to improve intersections and build a new bridge. Changes include:
Removal of the traffic signal at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and the connecting road between Arabian Ranches and Dubai Studio City.
Rerouted traffic flow outside the intersection, allowing free movement in both directions between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street.
Two new signal-free U-turns.
From 13 July 2025 until completion of works, traffic at the intersection of King Salman Street and the road to Dubai Harbour will be diverted for bridge construction.
Closure details:
Main roads and left turns on King Salman Street closed for motorists travelling from Dubai Marina towards Jumeirah and Dubai Harbour.
Diversion route: Al Marsa Street → Al Khayay Street → Al Naseem Street → King Salman Street.
The RTA has closed 63rd Street in both directions in front of the German International School, with access to Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street. An alternative entry and exit route is in place for the school.
Construction works have led to closures near City Centre Mirdif:
Closure of the roundabout at 5th Street and 8th Street.
Traffic from 5th Street rerouted to 8th Street toward City Centre Mirdif.
Traffic from 8th Street diverted to 5th Street toward Algeria Street.
New access road for mall parking.
U-turn near Ghoroob Square for traffic from City Centre Mirdif Street.
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has closed a section from Corniche Road to Al Intifada Road in Al Majaz 3 until Sunday, 24 August 2025 for the second phase of infrastructure works to improve traffic flow and public utilities.
According to the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, University Road and the Distributor Road towards Sharjah at Al Badi Bridge will be closed due to construction works on the temporary bridge for the Etihad Rail project. Traffic will be diverted via the alternative route through Al Siyouh Suburb Tunnel towards Eastern Maliha Road.

Partial closure of the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street and Al Falah Street intersection in Abu Dhabi until Monday, 11 August 2025.
Partial closure on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street from Saturday, 9 August to Monday, 11 August 2025.
Temporary closure at Hazza Bin Sultan Street and Nahyan The First Street intersection in Al Ain until Monday, 18 August 2025.
Partial Closure on Sweihan Road (E20) in Abu Dhabi on Saturday and Sunday, 9-10 August 2025, from 12:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
A partial road closure will take place on Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road (E11) in Abu Dhabi from 12:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, 9 August, and Sunday, 10 August 2025.
