UAE national designer Fatma Abdul Jalil Al Fahim unveiled the fall/winter 2007/08 collection from her label ‘Farfalla' at a fashion show held at the Emirates Towers Hotel on Tuesday.
Glamorous
Titled ‘Be Glamorous', the collection of haute couture evening gowns captured the classic elegance and femininity of the 1960s.
The mood was romantic and the look was retro chic. The models wore red lipstick and their straight hair was cut short or tied in high ponytails. To the tune of popular French numbers, they sashayed down the ramp in flowing silk, chiffon and velvet gowns glittering with Swarovski crystals and sequins.
Sensuous
Fatma's palette included black, white, brown, deep purple, fiery red, bright yellow, various hues of green and blue and the season's most popular shades of silver and gold. Fitted and flowing silhouettes were combined to create a sensuous and sophisticated look, accented with crystal studded belts, collars and trimming and nude chiffon panels embellished with crystals in paisley and geometric patterns.
The grand finale of the show featured two wedding gowns with layers of silk and tulle and long ruched trains sparkling with Swarovski crystals.
