A few days ago, my brother asked me to pick him up from his office and in the process, I lost my way. I happened to pass by a place and was surprised to see a polluted area on Amman Street in Ajman (as seen in photograph)!

It doesn’t seem like the Municipality garbage trucks are able to reach the region on a daily basis, as it is located close to a chemical factory.

This area is mainly residential, with many construction and factory workers living in the buildings nearby. They work hard all day and then return home to this? They deserve to have this pollution taken away from their area of residence.

So many infectious diseases can spread as this garbage continues to lie unattended for days. Cleanliness is not a requirement in the city or populated areas, it is a necessity everywhere. All the residents of the UAE would prefer to have a clean environment and healthy living.

Providing an extra bin in the area would not be enough. It needs to be cleaned up sooner. Additionally, the fine for littering or placing garbage outside the bin should be increased.

I hope the concerned Municipality and authorities will take the necessary action and help remove the dirt from the area as soon as possible. It is definitely a sore sight and also an unhealthy environment. We should speak up for those who may not be able to represent themselves. All of us are ambassadors of the community and environment.
