I think a bit of self-praise is in order. After missing the Infiniti's first service by some 500km, yours truly has finally managed to get it booked in at Arabian Automobile's Shaikh Zayed Road service centre this week. Since it's the G37's first trip to the garage, everything is on the house. The service includes an oil and filter change and a 27-point check to ensure that everything's running properly.

The next service (5,000km) will also be free with the first paid service at 10,000km expected to cost about Dh585, inclusive of labour and consumables, such as engine oil. Replacing worn out brake pads or broken components will obviously cost extra.

Naturally then, the scratches from my close encounter with a hedge cannot be repaired for free, although the courteous service adviser did offer to polish out the light scrapes. For deeper scratches there is an option of spot repair, starting from Dh415, which I chose to forego. In hindsight, it was a good move. The G's battle scars from the brush with the bush are gone with just some good old polish. The lads at Arabian Automobiles have done a great job and it runs like a dream now.

The fuel economy, which had suffered a bit recently, is slowly beginning to improve. I am also rather impressed with the fact that the whole job took less than a few hours with the car ready to be picked up the same afternoon. Overall, I can't complain about the quality of service, although I suspect I may have received special treatment.

So here's calling all Infiniti G37 owners. How has your ownership experience been so far? Have you faced any major problems with the car itself? And in case you answered yes to the last question, here's something that might provide some consolation: if you ever happen to reverse into a hedge, don't panic, it'll buff out.
