Pedestrian dies after being run over in Sharjah

Sharjah: A 22-year-old Pakistani man died on Friday afternoon after being run over by a vehicle in Sharjah, while his 22-year-old compatriot was seriously injured, police official said. The accident took place on Al Madam-Hatta Road.

The deceased and his friend were crossing the road from an undesignated area.

A police official said the operations room was informed about the accident at around 1pm.

Police patrols and paramedics moved to the scene of the incident and moved the injured to Al Dhaid hospital while the body of the deceased was moved to the hospital’s morgue.

The driver who caused the accident has been taken into police custody. Investigation is ongoing.
