A global model for religious coexistence

Dubai When Christians and Muslims move beyond the disturbing veil of stereotypical images and numbing prejudice through mutual understanding, the options for improving relations come more sharply into focus. Instances of this come from many countries where Christians and Muslims live together.

The Rev Dr Riad Jarjour, secretary general of the Arab Group for Muslim-Christian Dialogue, called the UAE a global model for co-existence among religions and ethnic groups, especially between Muslims and Christians on the basis of justice, freedom, equality and respect.

The Arab Working Group on Muslim-Christian Dialogue adopted a document called ‘Dialogue and Coexistence: An Arab Muslim-Christian Covenant'. This capped a valuable series of conferences, seminars, specific studies and meetings, through which the group undertook to deal with various aspects of Muslim-Christian relations, and the foundations for co-existence between Arab Muslims and Christians.
