Ras Al Khaimah: Twelve Asian workers sustained serious to moderate injuries after a bus they were travelling in hit a palm tree and overturned on Wednesday morning, the Ras Al Khaimah Police said.

Colonel Ali Saeed Al Alkim, director of the Traffic and Patrol Department, said all injured workers, who were between the ages of 30 and 44, were taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The police operations room was alerted at 7.30am and patrols and paramedics were sent to the site immediately.

He added that initial investigations showed that the driver was not paying attention to the road, which caused the accident. The accident report has been passed on to the authorities concerned to complete the necessary legal procedures.

Col Al Alkim called on all motorists to exercise caution while driving and avoid losing concentration. He also appealed to them to abide by the road safety rules.
