New record for World Emoji Day

The Emoji Movie has set a new world record: largest gathering of people dressed as emoji faces simultaneously across multiple venues.

An event was held in Dubai on July 15 at the Dubai Mall Ice Rink, with similar events held in Sao Paulo, Dublin, Moscow and London.

One hundred people showed up in Dubai, joining hundreds of others who completed the record-breaking effort around the world.

The event was held in anticipation for World Emoji Day, which is globally celebrated on July 17.
