Emirati duo nabbed after police were tipped off that one of the suspects was peddling drugs
Dubai: Two Emiratis were in court on Wednesday on charges of carrying 5.5kg of hashish, 25,000 Tramadol pills and 200g of methamphetamines.
Court records show that the duo were caught after police were tipped off that one of the suspects was peddling drugs in International City. The suspect and his alleged accomplice were arrested near Dragon Mart with a green plastic bag containing the contraband.
“The bag wasn’t ours,” the suspect told the judge. “We picked up the bag from a man in Al Dhaid. He asked us to deliver the bag to Dragon Mart in exchange for crystal meth.”
Over Dh47,000 was found on one of the suspects. The drugs were seized from his car.
The duo denied charges of peddling drugs but admitted to using them, specifically crystal meth.
The court will reconvene on April 27.
