AUS hosts Job Preparation Day for students
Sharjah The American University of Sharjah recently held a week-long ‘Job Preparation Day' for its graduating students. The event was held for the School of Business and Management, School of Architecture and Design, College of Engineering and College of Arts and Sciences. It included presentations on CV writing and interview preparation. Mock interviews and a presentation on the various facets of the job market were also held.
AUST students begin field training
Ajman Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST) students have begun field training in a number of governmental and private institutions, Dr Ahmad Ankit, vice-president for external relations and cultural affairs announced recently. The 175 students belong to varied disciplines such as mass communications, law and business administration.
AUS gets Al Habtoor chair in international relations
Sharjah The American University of Sharjah has established the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Chair in International Studies as a result of a Dh15 million gift by Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, chairman of Al Habtoor Group of Companies. This is the first endowed chair in the university's College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). "The holder of the chair will be an internationally renowned scholar and educator skilled in the social disciplines," said Dr Nada Mourtada-Sabbah, vice-chancellor of development and alumni affairs.
University students take part in clean-up drive
Ras Al Khaimah The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) and the Ras Al Khaimah Environment Protection and Development Authority (EPDA) jointly sponsored a clean-up activity on the bluff overlooking a coastal wetlands area which is home to a colony of flamingos. Over 100 volunteers, including university faculty, staff and students, in addition to RAK citizen volunteers and police and sanitation workers pitched in to help. AURAK president Dr Sharon Siverts and Executive Director of the RAK EPDA Dr Saif M. Al Ghais also took part.
