Evil is destruction and man is construction
Man with the use of technology made weapons - the ultimate source of destruction. Yes, if we follow this equation, we would definitely deduce that man in one way or another is the cause of destruction.
But who would like to believe that he/she is an evil creature, or who would want to be judged negatively by others? Yes, you are right: no one, not even the devil himself, would want that.
As I mentioned earlier man might be the cause of destruction, but he is the one who has built civilisations as well. Man might commit contradictory actions, and might have multiple personalities.
Humans are not merely evil nor purely good, however there is no person who lacks decency, graciousness and goodness. Of course, the percentage and level of these traits vary from one person to another, but they can be enhanced if one works on his good, moral and ethical side.
Why do bad deeds when you are capable of doing good ones?
We have seen examples of bad deeds and the world has witnessed their drastic, harsh results on humanity. Take for example the wars that took place and still are taking place in some weak and unfortunate countries. Observe closely using your wakeful conscience and realise how it killed the innocent and destroyed the weakest.
Afterwards flashback in your memory and think of all the bad deeds you have done - whether deliberately or not, that have caused pain and grief to many others. Do not try to clear or delete them from your memory, but try to clean and replace them by making a tiny effort every day to make your good self surpass your evil one.
You can start by smiling at those you never noticed around, or lending a helping hand to those you never considered worth it.
