Bipasha Basu on fashion and style

Bollywood siren and former model Bipasha Basu doesn’t subscribe to that cardinal fashion rule which goes: “no pain, no gain”. Basu, who’s the showstopper for designer Archana Kochhar’s fashion show in Dubai on Monday, has a clear-cut definition for style.

“I need to be comfortable in whatever I wear. I love to keep it chic, edgy and yet comfortable,” said Basu in an interview over e-mail. Naturally, her wardrobe isn’t filled with heavily embroidered tunics and gaudy clothes. Her must-have items?

“Basic ganjis (vests), shorts, casual maxi-dresses are a must-haves in my wardrobe,” said Basu. She will be wearing one of her creations displayed by Kochhar during the recent Lakme Fashion Week in her collection entitled Mumbai Checkmate. Bold neon colours and checks dominate her work, stocked at local boutique Label 24.

“I am really looking forward to the show. When Archana approached me to walk for her, I had to agree. I love Mumbai and this collection Mumbai Checkmate is all about Mumbai and its quirky elements that defines the real essence of the city,” said Basu.
