1. Chop and fry the onions in a little margarine in a frying pan. Transfer the onions to a large pan.
2. Brown the meat in batches. Add to the pot. Add the rest of the ingredients.
3. The beans should be rinsed in cold water first. Simmer slowly for 20 minutes.
4. Serve straight from the pot with the sour cream and sprinkle with parsley. Boiled rice or crusty bread and a green salad are good accompaniments.
