Expo 2020 Dubai: An updated look at the Expo site in December 2019

A close up shot of the Sustainability Pavilion. The plan is for this structure to be completed by the end of the year and will start getting fitted out for pavilions throughout the start of 2020. This pavilion’s name is Terra and it will be home to an indoor forest. The goal with this pavilion is to remind people that it's not too late for us to save the world.

These design elements are located all over the Sustainability quarter, for shade during the day and they are used as lighting in the night time.

Al Wasl Plaza dome is the heart of the Expo 2020 site. It is large enough to fit two airbuses A380’s inside. It is set to be one of Dubai’s most iconic buildings. After the Expo2020 the building will serve as a future hub for major UAE events. The Al Wasl Plaza will include many restaurants, fountains, and parks inside and will be covered by a translucent 67-meter-tall domed trellis of 130 meters in diameter. The trellis also serve as a 360-degree projection surface visible to visitors inside and outside.

More structures to provide shade during the day and light in the nighttime. More than 25 million visits are expected, with many visitors expected to come more than once during the Expo 2020.

A closer look at the UAE pavilion

If you look closely, you will notice that the UAE Pavilion is shaped like a falcon in flight. It will be a major attraction at Expo 2020 Dubai. The pavilion will tell the history of the nation as a connected global hub, and the vision of its leaders to create a peaceful and progressive society. We were also told that the falcon wings will move together in unison, to mimic the wings of a falcon flapping.
