Plus, keep an eye out for Sowcar Janaki, who is back onscreen after 18 years

Vanavarayan and Vallavarayan are two brothers who can’t stay away from each other for ten minutes. But if they are together for ten minutes, they end up quarrelling. This forms the premise of director Rajamohan’s second film, Vanavarayan Vallavarayan.
Elder brother Vanavarayan has faced 30 rejections (yes, you read it right) when it comes to love. So when he falls in love with Anjali, a college girl, (his 31st try at love) he gets lucky at last.
Kreshna, last seen in Yaamirukka Bayamey, a dark comedy which became a hit, plays Vanavarayan. Monal Gajjar also stars in the film. Television host Ma Ka Pa Anand plays younger brother Vallavarayan.
“It’s about the change in Vanavarayan’s life after love,” reveals Rajamohan, whose debut film was Kunguma Poovum Konjam Puravum, a grim love tale that impressed viewers with its realistic portrayal.
Look out for yesteryear’s actress, Sowcar Janaki, who is back onscreen after 18 years. She plays the two brothers’ grandmother.
“This grandmother was in love with an Englishman but had to forsake her love for the sake of her country,” adds Rajamohan, who earlier in his career assisted directors A. Venkatesh and Vijay Milton.
The spark for this story originated from his life and the bond he shared with his two brothers, especially his older brother Selvamurugan, an aspiring director, who died in an accident aged 25, some years ago.
“This is an emotional story of two brothers with humour woven into it. The audience will relate to it and at the end of the show, viewers will wish they had a brother like Vanavarayan,” said Rajamohan.
The film was shot in Pollachi by cinematographer M.R. Palanikumar. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music.
Produced by K.S. Madhubala and Dr. L. Sivabalan, Vanavarayan Vallavarayan releases in the UAE on Thursday.
