UAE beauty queen lands role in Tamil film

Miss India UAE Nivetha Pethuraj is making her acting debut in upcoming Tamil drama Oru Naal Koothu. According to film’s director Nelson, her Tamil speaking ability and good looks landed her the role.

Pethuraj won the title earlier this year.

“We had been looking for an actress with the combination of good looks and the ability to speak good Tamil. We came across Nivetha through a common friend and we felt that she was perfect for the character,” Nelson said in a statement.

“She’s a Tamilian settled in Dubai for over 13 years and her Tamil is impeccable. She plays a modern IT girl in the software department and is paired opposite ‘Attakathi’ Dinesh. She will be joining the sets soon,” he said.

The film also features Malayali actress Mia George, and the director is happy with her contribution the project.

“We have completed shooting her portions in the backdrop of Dindukal, and she has done a remarkably marvellous job,” he said.
