Actor was questioned by Hyderabad Police for nearly 4 hours yesterday about the stampede

Dubai: Telugu superstar Allu Arjun and the makers of Pushpa 2 have announced a compensation of Rs20 million (Dh880,000) to the family of a child critically injured in a stampede during the movie's screening in Hyderabad.
Tragically, the child's mother, 36-year-old Revathi, lost her life in the incident, which occurred at Sandhya Theatre on December 4, when Arjun attended the film's premiere.
The compensation includes Rs10 million (Dh440,000) from Allu Arjun and Rs50 lakh (Dh220,000) each from Mythri Movies and director Sukumar
According to reports, the amount will be handed over to the family by Dil Raju, the producer and chairperson of the Telangana Film Development Corporation.
The announcement followed Allu Arjun's questioning by Hyderabad Police for nearly four hours as part of the investigation into the stampede. Sources revealed that the actor, who is out on bail, claimed he learned about Revathi's death only the following day.
Allu Arjun's father, Allu Aravind, was also spotted at the hospital checking on the nine-year-old Sri Tej, who was injured in the stampede.
Aravind explained that legal constraints prevented him from directly interacting with the family and requested Dil Raju to deliver the money.
Aravind shared an update on Sri Tej's recovery, stating that the child had been removed from ventilator support and was breathing independently. "Doctors are optimistic about his recovery, and we are very satisfied with his progress," he said.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has criticised Arjun for attending the screening despite the police denying permission.
The Chief Minister further alleged that the actor exacerbated the situation by holding a roadshow and waving to the crowd even after the stampede, leading to additional chaos.
