Mohanlal-Sathyan Anthikad’s Hridayapoorvam to hit cinemas on August 28

Hridayapoorvam, the much-anticipated Malayalam film that reunites actor Mohanlal and veteran director Sathyan Anthikad, will now release in cinemas on 28 August, the makers confirmed on Sunday via social media.

The new date replaces the earlier scheduled release of 25 August and keeps the film within the Onam holiday window, ensuring a festive box-office debut.

The release announcement was accompanied by a cheerful new poster featuring Mohanlal alongside Premalu breakout star Sangeeth Prathap. Captioned “This Onam, celebrate with laughter, love, and a little leg-pulling!”, the poster hints at the film’s light-hearted and heartwarming tone.

Mohanlal also shared the update with his fans, posting the same poster on his official handles. Hridayapoorvam marks the superstar’s next big theatrical outing following the success of Thudarum and the big-budget action thriller Empuraan.

Set in Pune, rooted in emotion

Described as a feel-good family entertainer, Hridayapoorvam is predominantly set in Pune and promises to blend warmth, humour, and emotion — a signature of the Sathyan Anthikad style.

The cast includes Malavika Mohanan, Sangita Madhavan Nair, and Siddique in key roles, adding to the film’s nostalgic and multi-generational appeal.

The screenplay and dialogues have been penned by debutant Sonu TP, based on a story by Akhil Sathyan — son of Sathyan Anthikad and director of Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum.

The film’s technical team features cinematographer Anu Moothedath, art director Prasanth Madhav, and sound designer Anil Radhakrishnan. The music is composed by Justin Prabhakaran, who previously collaborated with Akhil Sathyan on Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum.

Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, Hridayapoorvam is expected to draw family audiences in large numbers this festive season.
