Showbiz Tsismis: Piolo Pascual opens up

Piolo Pascual has been the subject of many controversies ever since he joined showbusiness in 1997, most of it questioning his sexuality.

Pascual opens up to tabloid! and talks about how brave he needed to be to succeed.

Q: Your break-up with KC Concepcion was one of the biggest news last year, largely because of controversial statements made by your ex-girlfriend. You’ve been silent all throughout even now. Why?

A: Respect. She shared what she felt, and you just have to respect that.

Q: But being silent put you a in bad light — it strengthened innuendos about your sexual preferences.

A: I have addressed that issue many times in the past and I am not about to say something about it again. It’s become a nagging issue. People will always talk about what they want, find the little speck in a blank sheet of paper.

Q: Who’s next for Piolo after KC?

A: I’m loveless and I intend to be one until I’m 40; which is three years from now. I’d prefer someone who shares my faith and belief, someone who is probably not in the business so the relationship is at least out of the spotlight.

Q: What’s next for Piolo?

A: I’m scheduled to do a movie with Angelica Pangilinan. I am also excited, given the chance, to work with Juday [Judy Ann Santos] again. She’s a big part of my career, and much of my success I owe to her. She was one of those who gave me a break, so I’m looking forward to working with her again. There are some offers to do a movie or a TV series with her, so I hope at least one of those pushes through.

Q: Do you feel you have been overtaken by John Lloyd and Derek Ramsay?

A: I’ve had my great years, and I feel that I still have some good performances left in me. I don’t see myself being overtaken or overshadowed. I’ve had my fair share, and I am glad others are getting their deserved opportunities. They’re very talented actors. I trust my handlers; they know what’s best for me.

Q: If you’re not busy acting or doing shows, what’s life like for Piolo Pascual?

A: I do a lot of running — it’s such a liberating thing. When I run, everything is clear in my head, in my mind, in my heart. I am also a father to Inigo, so whenever I have some free time I spend it with my son.
