British supermodel Naomi Campbell, who is in India to celebrate her Russian billionaire boyfriend Vladimir Doronin’s 50th birthday, turned desi when she stepped out in an elegant lehenga-choli created by designer Manav Gangwani for the big bash.

“Dreams do come true. No one has made my clothes look so good. Love you Naomi and Vlad,” Gangwani tweeted.

The 42-year-old looked glamorous in a lehenga-choli in pink and purple hues. She accessorised the attire with mang-tikka [what is this?] and bracelet.

Sophie Choudry, who attended the party Tuesday where Rajastahni cuisine were laid out for Campbell’s international guests, tweeted: “Amazing nite!! Naomi & Vlad looked incredible in MG (Manav Gangwani creation).”

Campbell reached Jodhpur Sunday and the long-list of celebrity guests started arriving Monday.

Reports that a number of the 200 guests, who include the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, would play elephant polo were dismissed by Campbell in a statement issued by her spokesman.

Some animal rights campaigners believe the sport is cruel and had criticised Campbell for planning to hold a game, but she said she was “extremely upset” by the claims and that no polo was ever planned as part of the celebrations.

Colourful sofas, cushions and carpets were being laid out in courtyards inside the Mehrangarh Fort ahead of the party on Wednesday evening, with the fort’s dramatic walls expected to be lit in pink and yellow lights.

A huge mock poster of Doronin as James Bond and Campbell as a Bond girl was also on display at the venue as hundreds of workers rushed to complete last-minute preparations.
