The world’s largest jazz festival returns to Montreal this summer with Wayne Shorter, Al Di Meola, Jamie Cullum and Dee Dee Bridgewater among the headliners.

Andre Menard, artistic director of the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal, on Tuesday announced the indoor programme for venues ranging from prestigious concert halls to intimate clubs.

Menard says Montreal will be “the true heartbeat of Planet Jazz” when the festival presents nearly 1,000 performances in 10 indoor venues and nine outdoor stages from June 26 to July 5.

Rockers Huey Lewis and the News will be making their first appearance at the Montreal festival, which Menard says “is home to all forms of music.”

Other non-jazz performers include the Steve Miller Band, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Lucinda Williams, Erykah Badu and King Sunny Ade.
