In June, Kim Kardashian West successfully advocated for Alice Marie Johnson’s release from prison after more than 20 years behind bars.

On this week’s episode Jimmy Kimmel Live, the reality TV star and beauty mogul revealed where she was when US President Donald Trump told her Johnson was set to be released after he commuted her sentence.

“I’m naked and my phone rings,” West said, referring to a photo shoot she had with Steven Klein. “I’m all glammed up, and I’m like, ‘Give me a robe,’ you know, because I had been waiting for the call.”

West spoke on the phone with Trump first before sharing the news with Johnson, a 63-year-old great-grandmother who was serving a life sentence for drug possession and money-laundering charges.

“Then I had to call Alice, from the shoot, nude... I didn’t know I was the first person telling her,” Kardashian West said.

Kimmel asked if she had a longer list of people she would like to help — including First Lady Melania Trump. West said yes, that she reads stories every day about women in facilities and recently visited a women’s prison to check out the conditions.

“When they saw I was there, they were like banging on the windows, like, ‘Kim’s here to get us out,’” she said. “But there are a lot of positive things and bills that we are trying to get passed that I’m really hopeful about.”
