Filipino filmmaker Brillante Mendoza is among the 100 directors cited by the book Take 100 as the most exceptional in the world.

The list also included directors Auraeus Solito, Raya Martin and Pepe Diokno. According to the publishers the list aims to present 100 of the "most exceptional and emerging film directors" in the world as chosen by a panel of internationally prominent film festival programmers, including Marco Muller of the Venice Film Festival, Cameron Bailey of Toronto International Film Festival, Trevor Groth of Sundance Film Festival, Kim Dong-Ho of Pusan (in South Korea) and Frederic Maire of Locarno (in Switzerland).

The filmmakers included in Take 100 were selected from countries such as China, Israel, Mexico, India, Romania and Algeria.
