Dubai has become the hotspot for new stars
Dubai is quickly turning into the new playground for K-stars—and they’re not just stopping by. From solo getaways to brand campaigns and fan meets, the UAE has become the perfect stage for Korea’s biggest celebrities. From Kim Woo-bin soaking up desert sunsets, or Park Shin-hye calling her UAE trip “unforgettable,” the appeal is undeniable. Where else can you find ultramodern architecture, serene beaches, luxury shopping, and the chance to ride camels, all in one itinerary? For Korean stars juggling packed schedules and global fame, Dubai offers both a lavish escape and a high-profile spotlight.
Add to that the growing wave of K-pop and K-drama fandom in the region, and you have a match made in Hallyu heaven. So, what keeps these celebrities coming back—and what do they love most about their time in the Emirates? Here’s a look inside the Dubai diaries of some of your favourite K-stars.
South Korean actor Lee Jong-suk was clearly taken by Dubai during his recent visit. Speaking at a fan meet in the UAE, he described the city as “the city of the future,” praising its night sky and warm atmosphere. “I tried to walk at night, but it was warm,” he said with a smile. He also shared a personal moment—sending his mother a photo of the Burj Khalifa—and added that he hopes to return soon, this time just to enjoy the city as a tourist.
When Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism launched its ‘Who’s Ready’ campaign, it turned to two of Korea’s top actors, Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik, to lead the campaign. “From the desert to Palm Jumeirah, and from the Dubai Fountain to the Burj Khalifa, there’s so much to see,” Park Shin-hye said. “My time in Dubai was unforgettable.” Park Hyung-sik echoed her enthusiasm, adding, “Dubai felt like a dream. The skyline, clear skies, and sunsets were unforgettable.”
Their Dubai adventure kicked off at the the glamorous Palazzo Versace, setting the tone for a whirlwind tour through the city’s many sides. From the Museum of the Future to the winding alleyways of Al Fahidi’s historic neighbourhood, the campaign dives into everything that makes Dubai unforgettable.
Of course, no visit is complete without a splash of luxury, cue dazzling stops at the Dubai Fountain and Atlantis The Royal. And just when you think they’re done, the duo heads off-road, trading skyscrapers for sand dunes.
Actor Kim Woo-bin also drew attention during his visit to Dubai while filming his show, All Your Wishes Come True with Bae Suzy.
Dubai has also seen a rise in Korean music performances. Groups like Stray Kids, SF9, Seventeen, and Blackpink have all brought their energy to UAE stages. Blackpink’s 2023 show at Etihad Park in Abu Dhabi was a visual spectacle filled with fireworks, confetti, and even a birthday celebration for Rosé. The members expressed their affection for the UAE and the warmth of the fans.
Moreover, Dubai Tourism’s latest instalment of the ‘Dubai, Who’s Ready?’ campaign stars beloved Korean actors Park Seo‑joon, Park Hyung‑sik, and Choi Woo‑shik, members of the famed Wooga Squad. The video follows the trio’s playful adventure across Dubai’s iconic landscapes, beginning with a falcon-stealing-phone caper, and showcases landmarks like downtown hotels and desert vistas .
Whether through tourism campaigns, filming projects, or stadium-shaking performances, Korean stars are increasingly shining a spotlight on Dubai—and the feeling seems mutual.
