Park Shin-hye returns to her comedic roots in this nostalgic yet timely office romance.
Lately, office romcoms in the K-drama world have felt either scattered or just a little off the mark. While Love Scout gave the genre a brief jolt, it’s been a while since we’ve had a truly solid workplace romantic comedy. Where’s the charm of Business Proposal, the wit of What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, or the heart of Her Private Life?
Well, Park Shin-hye’s new show might just be the game-changer. Teaming up with Go Kyung Pyo, Ha Yun Kyung, and Cho Han-gyeol, she stars in tvN’s upcoming office comedy Miss Undercover Boss (working title). And if early details are anything to go by, this could be the revival K-drama fans have been waiting for.
According to Soompi, it is set against the chaotic backdrop of South Korea’s late-1990s IMF crisis. Miss Undercover Boss spins the story of Hong Geum Bo, a taciturn, 35-year-old elite financial supervisory officer. But when shady financial dealings catch her eye, Geum Bo goes deep undercover, posing as a 20-year-old high school graduate at a securities firm. The result? A hilarious fish-out-of-water journey full of office antics, identity mix-ups, and unexpected connections in the heart of Yeouido’s financial district.
Park Shin-hye steps into the role of Hong Geum Bo, balancing icy professionalism with wide-eyed rookie charm. Her double life will see her navigating spreadsheets by day and office gossip by night—all while trying not to blow her cover.
Go Kyung Pyo plays Shin Jung Woo, the sharp new CEO of Hanmin Securities. A numbers-obsessed corporate raider with a heart locked in the past, his world turns upside down when he meets Hong Jang Mi—Geum Bo’s undercover identity, who happens to look exactly like his former flame. Fresh off his roles in Frankly Speaking and Love in Contract, we’re ready for some fun here.
Behind the scenes, Miss Undercover Boss is helmed by director Park Sun Ho (Suspicious Partner, A Business Proposal) and writer Moon Hyun Kyung (Into the Ring)—a powerhouse duo with a track record of crafting warm, witty dramas.
The production team shared, “We’re thrilled to be working with such trusted and talented actors. ‘Miss Undercover Boss’ will sneak into viewers’ hearts with a refreshing blend of retro comedy and relatable chaos. Get ready for a story that bridges the late 20th century with the hustle of modern life.”
