‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ makes almost 2b

The film was made on a budget of Rs600 million, and Rs200 million was spent on publicity and advertising

Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s family drama Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is continuing its victory march at the box office. The Sooraj Barjatya directorial is nearing the Rs2 billion (Dh110 million) mark in India.

The Hindi version of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which released on November 12, a day after the Hindu festival of Diwali, has collected Rs1.9 billion after the second week of its release, read a statement.

The film is running successfully in theatres and collected a total of Rs203 million in its second weekend.

Made on a budget of Rs600 million with Rs200 million spent on publicity and advertising — Barjatya’s most expensive film — Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was released in 4,500 screens in India.

The film, which also released in Tamil and Telugu, also stars Sonam Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Swara Bhaskar, Armaan Kohli and Neil Nitin Mukesh.
