No cuts: Salman Khan fans in the UAE rejoice

In what may come as a relief to Salman Khan fans in the UAE, the actor’s Eid release Tubelight has not been subjected to any cuts by the UAE censorship body, tweeted its co-producer.

A seemingly ecstatic Chief Operating Officer of Salman Khan Films, Amar Batula, posted on his Twitter account on June 18 with a claim: “#Tubelight UAE censor just completed! No cuts and PG13 rating! @TubelightKiEid @kabirkhankk @BeingSalmanKhan #Eid2017.”

This claim could not be independently verified by Gulf News tabloid!, but the film has been rated PG13 in local cinemas.

In this Kabir Khan-director war drama, the actor plays the role of a simpleton, working alongside his real-life brother, Sohail Khan.

The film is set in the 1960s, against the backdrop of the Indo-Sino war. Khan’s character is called Tubelight, reportedly due to his slow-on-the-uptake nature. The first song of Tubelight was launched in Dubai in March. The movie will release this Thursday across UAE cinemas.
