Blackpink’s Lisa drops ‘Born Again’ single and video, fans react

“The transformation into a New Woman who embraces her freedom to become the person she desires to be.” 

A grandfather clock ticking backwards followed by this empowering definition of ‘Born Again’ are what dramatically kick off the music video of a new solo single, released today (February 7) by Blackpink’s Lisa. 

Born Again, a high-profile cross-cultural musical collaboration between K-pop superstar Lisa, American rapper Doja Cat and British R&B singer-songwriter Raye, is sending out a powerful message to women everywhere. 

The new song effortlessly blends disco with rap, a hint of electro-pop and some dynamic vocals from the famous trio in an empowering anthem meant to defiantly drill into an ex-partner’s head exactly what he gave up on. Of course, it’s also all about reinvention, and making a fresh start. 

 The video features striking visuals of Lisa, Doja Cat and Raye in ultra-glam looks. They ditch their initial all-black attire for stunning white gowns with bits of shiny armour in a dramatic fashion transition, complementing the intensity of Born Again’s lyrical vibe. 

 Lisa reached out to fans on Instagram post the release, thanking Doja Cat and Raye for a “dream collab” and calling Born Again “a tribute to powerful women throughout history and to all of you.”

 Lisa’s Blackpink bandmates were quick to share their love for Born Again. Jennie referred to Born Again as “3 amazing, beautiful women killing it” on her Instagram Story, while Rosé called the song “INSANEEEEEE”, adding, “you killed it Lisa.” Jisoo shared a link to the Born Again video, with a comment in Korean accompanied by emojis of smiling faces with hearts. 

 Social media is also buzzing with fan reactions to Born Again, the fourth single from Lisa’s upcoming solo album Alter Ego. 

“Lisa’s willingness to experiment with new music, fashion, and other things is evident when she is in her element. She is a real legend, and I think she merits all the success that comes her way,” wrote a user on X. 

 Another fan praised the collaboration on YouTube: “I never expected these three great singers to harmonize their voices so much. Their harmonies are incredible. The clip is a pleasure to watch. I was hooked the first time I heard it. This song will be a hit.”

Fans are also counting down to the release of Lisa’s solo album Alter Ego, on February 28.
