Culture in focus at family village in Dubai

Dubai: The Community Development Authority is organising a wide array of activities in the Family Gathering Village to enhance national identity and social integration.

The Family Forum, which started on February 6, is being held under the patronage of Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and will run until March 27 in Al Khawaneej.

Seven weeks

The seven-week event hosts a wide a range of entertainments including cultural awareness programmes, educational courses, public lectures and contests which mainly target children.

A heritage programme entitled "Our Customs and Traditions" and "Kharareef", a story-telling event, are among the activities intended to enhance national identity and educate about the country's rich heritage.
