Muscat : Oilfield services group Topaz Energy and Marine has signed long-term vessel support contracts totalling $160 million (Dh587.7 million), the company revealed yesterday.

Topaz's cable-lay vessel, the Team Oman, has been contracted to ABB for a five year wind farm support contract, which will begin early 2012. It will involve a significant upgrade of the vessel for her to carry out all interconnector and repair work in the wind farm industry.

The company's newly-built anchor-handling tug supply vessel, the Topaz Khubayb, has been awarded a three year contract with Saudi Aramco. Topaz operates in Saudi Arabia through a joint venture with the Gentas Group.

"We are delighted to announce these two new contracts with prestigious clients," said Roy Donaldson, COO of Topaz Marine.
