Radisson Blu property bought by Select Group and is in for major refurbishment

Dubai: The Select Group has bought the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dubai Media City in a deal valued at over Dh200 million. This is the second major hotel property deal happening in that part of the city, with Bank Muscat recently selling a Movenpick hotel to the Arenco Group.
For Select, it adds to a collection of properties within the area. As one of the leading private developers in Dubai Marina, it recently acquired the stalled ‘Pentominium’ high-rise location in Dubai Marina through an auction.
Radisson Blu has been a popular hospitality attraction through the years, helped by a central location in one of Dubai’s busiest commercial hubs.
It is ‘surrounded by global corporate headquarters, including META, Pfizer, Samsung, and Mastercard’, said a statement from Select.
The new owner plans a ‘comprehensive’ refurbishment of the property, with a focus on expanding the F&B offerings to ‘address a critical gap in the area’s hospitality landscape’.
According to Rahail Aslam, Chairman of Select Group, “We are excited to announce the acquisition of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City, marking a pivotal milestone in our ongoing commitment to securing prime assets in strategic locations. Our upgrades aim to create dynamic offerings that meet evolving demands.”
Dubai's hotel sector will be gunning for another high growth performance in 2025, even as new hospitality projects take shape. Last year, notable gains were also recorded in average room rates for the most part.
As the highest recorded hotel sale transaction in the Media Free Zone, it demonstrates the value of strategically located assets in Dubai’s thriving market," said Andrew Love, Regional Partner and Head of Capital Markets at Knight Frank MENA.
"This deal marks Knight Frank’s ninth hotel transaction in Dubai in the last 18 months - out of the 12 hotels that have exchanged hands in the same period."
The Radisson Blu property was acquired by Select M City Ltd., a subsidiary of Select Investments Limited. The transaction was supported by legal advisors Baker McKenzie and Wisefields.
