Dubai: Pakistan said yesterday it will welcome new investments in port projects from DP World despite the Dubai company abandoning a bid to manage strategic Gwadar Port.

Shipping Minister Babar Khan Ghauri told Gulf News he did not see any repercussions from the pullout on Dubai's recently-announced mega real estate ventures in Pakistan.

He said the government will next week announce the operator for Gwadar, for which DP World was once the preferred bidder.

But when other major port operators expressed an interest in managing the port, located in Balochistan and being built with Chin-ese assistance, Pakistan announced a fresh bidding process.
