Vivendi’s Universal may sell Virgin to clinch EMI deal

London: Vivendi SA’s Universal Music Group may sell Virgin Records Ltd to aid the regulatory approval of its £1.2 billion (Dh6.9 billion) takeover of EMI Group, the Sunday Times reported, citing unnamed sources.

The Virgin sale will be part of a range of concessions that Universal will present to competition regulators at a meeting in Brussels this week, the newspaper reported. Universal declined to comment.
