DP World to explore economic opportunities in Azerbaijan

Dubai: DP World Group CEO, Sultan Ahmad Bin Sulayem met with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday to explore future opportunities for economic cooperation. DP World is playing an advisory role in the development the Alyat Free Trade Zone a future business hub, part of a network of planned economic zones in Azerbaijan. The Alyat Free Trade Zone and the Port of Baku are key assets in the development of logistics ambitions helping Azerbaijan to become a focal point for trade between Europe and other countries. Transport infrastructure includes plans for 826-kilometre rail link connecting Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia, able to transport 1 million passengers and 6.5 million tonnes of freight each year.
