Industrial Production Index down 0.5% in first quarter

Abu Dhabi: The Industrial Production Index (IPI) fell 0.5 per cent in the first quarter of 2015 compared with the same quarter of 2014 on the back of a 77.2 per cent drop in the ‘Manufacture of other transport equipment’ category.

According to a report issued by the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (Scad) on Tuesday, the IPI subindex for the ‘Manufacture of paper and paper products’ plunged 60.2 per cent, while ‘Manufacture of rubber and plastics products’ retreated 53.3 per cent.
