Philippines: From July 1, lower fuel prices kick in, know by how much

Manila: Following a massive surge in fuel prices, Filipino motorists can expect some relief at the pump starting July 1, government announced on Monday. 

The fuel price rollback is expected to ease transportation costs amid ongoing economic pressures.

After a series of hefty price hikes, local motorists can finally breathe a sigh of relief as oil firms here are rolling back pump prices, a welcome change, especially after last week’s “big-time” increases that had everyone wincing at the pump.

Here’s the lowdown on how much you’ll save:

• Diesel is set to decrease by  ₱1.80 per liter. This almost halves last week’s whopping ₱5.20/litre price jump.

• Petrol (gasoline) will also see a drop of ₱1.40 per liter, partially reversing its previous ₱3.50/L climb, blamed on geopolitical uncertainty.

• For those using kerosene, get ready for the biggest cut: ₱2.20 per liter. This is also about half of its previous ₱4.80/litre hike.

Major players like PetroGazz, CleanFuel, Seaoil, and Shell all confirmed these reductions in their advisories.

Caltex also joined the rollback party.

Why the sudden shift?

The industry points to the recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel, which has eased global supply fears and calmed down crude oil prices. 

It seems peace can go a long way for your wallet.

Discounts

There's more good news: for  the Philippines’ public utility vehicle (PUV) and transportation network vehicle services (TNVS) drivers, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced that several oil firms are stepping up to offer fuel discounts.

• Petron is giving a generous ₱0.50 up to ₱3 per liter discount for PUVs through its “Super Driver Card” program.

• Shell is also chipping in, offering ₱1 to ₱5 per liter for PUVs and ₱2 to ₱3 per liter for TNVS through its ?Public Transport Discount Program”.

• Cleanfuel isn't left out, providing ₱1 per liter on diesel and ₱2 per liter on gasoline for PUJ drivers and non-operator taxi drivers with their “CleanFuel Pasada Card”, starting July 1.

• And Caltex is offering ₱2.50 off on motor gas, ₱1.50 off on diesel, and a hefty ₱10 off for lubricant products for PUVs via its StarDriver program.

While this rollback is good news, it's worth noting that even with these reductions, gasoline and diesel prices will still show an overall increase for the year, up by ₱9/litre and ₱10.05/litre respectively since the start of 2025.

Still, any reduction is a win for consumers, especially after recent challenges.
