Dubai: Dana Gas, an energy firm based in the United Arab Emirates, has appointed the general manager of its Egyptian operations as its new chief executive officer, the company said on Tuesday.

Patrick Allman-Ward, who came to Dana last year from Shell International, will take up the post in September, the company said on the Abu Dhabi bourse website.

The appointment follows the retirement last year of Ahmad Al Arbeed as chief executive officer.

Allman-Ward will continue as head of the Egyptian operations until a replacement is found, Dana said. He will focus on growing Dana’s operations in Egypt, the UAE and Iraq’s Kurdistan region, chairman Adel Al Sabeeh said in the statement.

Another of Allman-Ward goals will be reducing Dana’s receivables in Egypt and Kurdistan. The company has been plagued by uncollected dues for its goods in both of those places, and was forced to restructure a $920 million (Dh3.37 million) Islamic bond at the end of last year after missing a repayment deadline at the end of October.
