The Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Co (Adma-Opco) has commissioned the 30-inch main oil line between Zakum and Das which now secures the company's production target. The company has also nearly completed the gas injection pilot in Zakum, the start-up of the Zakum crestal gas injection, and of the Das accommodation projects, according to the latest report from the company.
The oldest 30-inch main oil line linking Zakum field to Das Island has been replaced by a new 92-kilometre line stretching from Zakum West supercomplex new riser platform to Das pig receiver station. It took 17 months to complete, says the report.
"An engineering feat by all accounts," noted Ali Rashed Al Jarwan, assistant general manager (technical). "The whole project was a well-planned engineering package. All factors were calculated and we even managed to save about $30 million on the total estimated cost." In addition, a new 10-kilometre, 24-inch line was installed, along with an 80-metre long bridge linking the riser platform to the collector separator platform.
The local National Petroleum Construction Co (NPCC) and France's Technip Geoproduction carried out the basic design while Germanischer Lloyd undertook third party verification and certification tasks. General Manager Henry Bacconnier said one of the main challenges is to keep all the company's assets in top condition for years to come.
