HSBC Mena gets new CEO

Elhedery joined HSBC in 2005, as global head of structured rates, then global deputy head of rates in global markets

Dubai: Georges Elhedery has been appointed chief executive officer for HSBC’s Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region and will join the board of HSBC Bank Middle East Limited (HBME), as deputy chairman, with immediate effect, subject to relevant regulatory approvals, the bank said a statement.

Elhedery joined HSBC in 2005, where he was global head of structured rates, then global deputy head of rates in global markets. He subsequently moved to Dubai in 2010, initially as head of global markets, Mena, then as head of markets and capital financing, Mena, before taking on the role of head of global banking and markets, Mena, in June 2014.
