Dubai: The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Keeta Drone to study safe drone deliveries across Dubai.

The agreement was signed by Mohammed Abdullah Lengawi, Director General of DCAA, and Dr. Yinian Mao, Chairman of Keeta Drone.

The partnership will focus on three critical areas: developing infrastructure for designated drone zones, optimising airspace requirements, and addressing safety and security measures for drone deliveries.

Smart transportation

Mohammed Abdullah Lengawi emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership in achieving Dubai’s vision for smart transportation.

“This collaboration highlights the DCAA’s commitment to implementing Dubai’s leadership vision by enabling drone-based delivery and offering innovative infrastructure. We aim to foster an environment where cutting-edge aviation technologies can thrive, while maintaining stringent safety and security standards,” Lengawi said.

He also noted the DCAA’s role in enhancing airspace safety and creating a business-friendly ecosystem that attracts foreign investment, ultimately contributing to the future of aviation in Dubai.

Expanding Ops

As Keeta Drone looks to expand its drone delivery operations across the emirate in a safe and regulated manner, Dr. Yinian Mao expressed enthusiasm about the long-term partnership, highlighting its potential to transform Dubai into a hub for advanced drone technology.

“With DCAA’s support, Keeta Drones will expedite the expansion of its operations, establish new routes, and offer diverse services across Dubai. Adhering to strict safety standards, we aim to make Dubai one of the most advanced cities for smart transportation,” Dr. Mao stated.

Airspace safety

The MoU establishes a framework for evaluating and approving designated drone operation zones while ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards. The DCAA will assist Keeta Drone in coordinating with government entities to expedite the establishment of new drone routes and foster the growth of Dubai’s low-altitude aviation economy.

The DCAA’s ongoing efforts to regulate drone operations align with Dubai’s ambitious sustainability and development goals. By enabling innovative transport solutions, the authority seeks to benefit various sectors of society while reinforcing the emirate’s position as a global aviation leader.

This partnership represents a significant step forward in integrating cutting-edge drone technology into Dubai’s transportation ecosystem, setting a benchmark for safety, innovation, and progress in the aviation industry.
