Nissan recently set sights on capturing the fasted recorded lap by GT-R Nismo at Tsukuba Circuit, Japan. Known around the world as a small yet technical track, just shaving a few milliseconds off a personal best lap is means for celebration enough. With driver Tsugio Matsuda at the helm of the 2020 GT-R Nismo, Nissan was able to break the 1-minute lap challenge and take the fastest lap time for a production car at 59.361 seconds. The 2020 GT-R Nismo is the second production model car to ever break the 1-minute lap time at the event. The first car was a Porsche 911 GT3, which held the previous record. Unveiled almost a year ago, the 2020 GT-R Nismo features a 3.8-litre V6 with turbos from the GT3 racer and kicks out 591 horses and 652Nm of torque. Channeling output to the four-wheel drive system is a re-tuned six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
