Dubai: UAE midfielder Omar Abdul Rahman suffered a suspected knee ligament tear in Al Hilal’s 1-0 derby win at Al Shabab in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday.

If confirmed, the 27-year-old could be ruled out of the 2019 Asian Cup from January 5 to February 1, where hosts UAE play India, Bahrain and Thailand in Group A.

Abdul Rahman left Al Ain for Al Hilal in contentious circumstances over the summer, but was still considered a key part of the Whites’ plans for this upcoming tournament.
