Dubai Golden Visa awardee Jeev Milkha Singh of India will make his debut on the PGA Champions Tour today (Thursday) at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, being held at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Michigan, from May 26-29.

Jeev will tee off at 8.36am (Local US time) alongside David Duval (US) and Mark Calcavecchia (US). Jeev, speaking to Gulf News after his final practice round, said: “I am excited to be playing in my first Senior Major this week. I did not play a practice round until yesterday (Wednesday) as there was a Pro-Am on Tuesday. I played a few holes in practice with Retief Goosen (RSA), the golf course is very demanding and in exceptional condition and playing long due to all the recent rains. The greens are slopy, so it is going to be tough this week, as every Major should be.

Strong field

“My game is feeling good and I am going to give my best this week. Anything is possible in golf and I am going to believe in this saying this week,” concluded Jeev.

A typically strong field of 156 golfing legends has assembled for this Senior Major, with a prize purse of $3.25 million.

Notable absentee

Others of note expected to be in the mix include: defending champion Alex Cejka (Germany), Padraig Harrington (Ireland), Jim Furyk (US), Retief Goosen (RSA), Ernie Els (RSA), K.J. Choi (Korea) and Mike Weir (Canada), who have immediately started to compete and contend on the PGA Tour Champions once they turn 50 of age.

Harbor Shores is also the venue for Colin Montgomerie’s first Senior Major triumph in the 2014 edition of the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. One notable absentee from this week’s field is Steve Stricker, the 2021 US Ryder Cup captain who tested positive for Covid-19 and withdrew on Tuesday night.
