Awali Golf Club, Bahrain has kick started their golfing season in usual fashion with the Bill Brien Trophy.

The late Bill Brien is known to only a few current ex-pat members these days, where as plenty more of the Bahraini members do remember the great man himself.

The current course at Awali Golf Club was formally opened on the 4th January 1937, having fantastically celebrated their 86th anniversary in January this year. 49 players competed in this year’s Bill Brien Trophy across the infamous sand course consisting of rock fairways and oiled "greens".
