Drew Foxcroft wins Jumeirah Golf Estates Amateur Open

Receives an invite to the Ras Al Khaimah Classic on DP World Tour

Dubai: Jumeirah Golf Estates member Drew Foxcroft shot a two round score of two under par, 142, to win the 2022 edition of the Jumeirah Golf Estates Amateur Open at Jumeirah Golf Estates. The first round was played on the Fire course and the second round over the Earth course.

Foxcroft shot a first round 72 and a two under par 70 today to win by one shot and receives an invite, as the leading EGF player in the field, to the DP World Tour’s Ras Al Khaimah Classic to held from February 10-13 at Al Hamra Golf Club, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, courtesy of the Emirates Golf Federation.

On a beautiful Dubai winter’s day with some friendly conditions for good scoring, Foxcroft managed three birdies on holes 2, 8 and 10 and one bogey on hole 4 in his round, finishing with a solid eight pars in a row with two nines of 35.

In his 36 holes the champion managed 7 birdies.

Craig Vance (Trump International Golf Club) took tied second place on 143, with rounds of 75 and 68, the latter had the tied best score of the day along with tied fifth Edoardo Galeppini (DCGYC). Vance bogeyed the first hole but responded brilliantly with five birdies and no bogeys over the last 17 holes to fall short by just one shot. Vance managed a combined nine birdies in his two rounds.

Also tied second was Viggo Sorensen (Trump International Golf Club), who finished with a six on the famous par five 15th and first round leader Yash Majmudar (Jumeirah Golf Estates) finished bogey/double, when a par/par over the last two holes, a par 3 and a par 5, would have taken the title by two clear shots.

Ninty six players completed 36 holes, with 51 players breaking 160, 16 over par.

The 2022 Jumeirah Golf Estates Amateur Open was supported by Solutions Leisure Group and was sanctioned by the EGF as well as being an event on the 2021-2022 Men’s Emirates Golf Federation Order of Merit.
