Sunday was the final round of the DGC Open at Delhi Golf Club. I started the round tied 21st and managed an eight-birdie round of 68 to go with my first three rounds of 71, 73 and 74 to finish on two-under par and move up to a share of sixth.

What an exciting final day it has been. I really gave it a go on sunday, I fired at all the flags and figured that if I could post six-under I might have a chance.

I was five-under for the round and three-under par for the event as I stood on the par three 17th tee. I went for the flag but sadly paid an expensive price and walked off with a double bogey. I was pleased to bounce back and round off the week with a birdie on the 18th.

I secured 21 birdies over the four rounds, perhaps the most of any player in the field?

An interesting statistic of the week is that this week’s winner - Thailand’s Nitithorn Thippong - had 16 birdies and an eagle.

So, in summary, my game is in good shape, but I just made too many errors, but it is always satisfying to sign off the week with a good round in front of the home crowds.

A prize of almost $13,500 from $500,000 purse is a nice reward for my week - which could have been so much better - and it is pleasing to move up to 35th in the Asian Tour Order of Merit after four events.

I will be staying back in India this week before returning to action for two weeks of mixed golf in Thailand in April.

My fellow Dubai resident Jeev Milkha Singh shot a final round of 74 for a 10-over total over, but it was good for him to make the cut and get in a full tournament before he plays in the final event of the 2021 Legends Tour in Mauritius.
