The cases of the B.1.617.2 variant currently stand at 1,313 and that is more than double of the previous week. “We are anxious about it, it has been spreading,” Johnson said. “There’s a range of things we could do. We’re ruling nothing out.” With restrictions easing across much of the UK from 17 May everyone is hoping the vaccines will continue to break the link between cases and hospitalisations and deaths so that another lockdown can be avoided.
