OPEN-AIR MUSEUM TELLS DUBAI’S FASCINATING STORY: Dubai isn’t just about skyscrapers. Al Shindagha Museum, which covers an area of 310,000 square metres, has been renovated and transformed into an open-air museum. On Monday, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated Al Shindagha Museum, a living testimony to Dubai’s transformation. It’s one evidence that Dubai has always been a hub for traders and those pursuing a better life — and it will continue to thrive as a centre of global civilisations on both cultural and humanitarian fronts. FERNANDES DOESN’T HAVE THE CHARACTER TO CAPTAIN MAN UTD: Portugal international Bruno Fernandes should not captain Manchester United again after his poor behavior in Sunday’s 7-0 thrashing by Liverpool. The midfielder was deputizing in the absence of skipper Harry Maguire but let his team down badly in the Premier League clash. As the match slipped away from United, he proved he is not their best leader by throwing a strop when his team needed him the most. He even manhandled the linesman and was fortunate not to be shown a red card. There are more suitable candidates than him with former Real Madrid star Casemiro being one and Raphael Varane another option. It is easy to captain a team when they are playing well and winning but it is quite another to lead by example when things are not going so well. HARKING BACK TO AN AMITABH BACHCHAN INJURY: When the Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan posted on social media earlier this week that he sustained a rib cage injury while filming for an upcoming movie, for fans it would have brought back memories of a near-fatal accident involving the actor decades ago and had India praying for his recovery. While filming for 'Coolie' in 1982, a stunt went awry and Bachchan had to be hospitalised after sustaining an internal injury for months together. According to media reports, Bachchan lost over 40 kg during that tense period. The actor on the other end who inflicted the injury by mistake, Puneet Issar, was worried not just about Bachchan, but about his future as well. Issar was vilified to no end and saw acting opportunities dry up. The movie, however, released a year later to become a box office hit. Bachchan, thankfully, lived to tell the tale.
