Eighth season of Dubai Design Week begins
Dubai Design Week has returned for its eighth season opening yesterday with a full schedule of arts and culture until November 13, in partnership with Dubai Design District (d3) and Dubai Culture, Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The annual event is considered as the region’s premiere occasion for architecture, design, art and fashion, and this year the packed programme focuses on the theme of sustainability and a brighter future.
“We are proud to present the eighth edition of Dubai Design Week, which is set to be – once again – a very exciting highlight of Dubai’s autumn calendar,” said Khadija Al Bastaki, Vice President of d3.
“We look forward to bringing the design and creative community together to engage, connect and be inspired by the ideas, talents and artisans presented across installations, exhibitions, talks, workshops, the Downtown Design fair and the market,” she said. “In addition, we look forward to giving incredible talent from the UAE, region and wider world a platform for their work to be showcased and celebrated. We at Dubai Design District are deeply committed to rethinking the regular, empowering talent and being an ever-growing ecosystem for creative thinkers. We look forward – with this edition of Dubai Design Week – to fortifying Dubai’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Design and further growing the profile of the creative industries in our city.”
Key programming at Dubai Design Week this year includes: Trade Show, the Middle East’s leading fair for contemporary design with the biggest line up yet and brands who are taking part for the first time; Installations, a series of immersive installations throughout d3 using innovative materials; Exhibitions, the core of Dubai Design Week, with highlights including Metaverse exploration and the best of local design; Workshops, which gives visitors the opportunity to learn from world-renowned creative professionals; Market, which takes place throughout the week focusing on homegrown products from homewares to fashion; and finally Talks, for all those who are looking to engage in discussions with other design professionals.
