Yemeni school principal kills vice-principal, son over tree dispute
Dubai: A Yemeni school principal shot and killed a school vice-principal and his son on Saturday following a dispute over the ownership of a tree in the southwestern governorate of Taiz.
The incident took place in the town of Al Ghazila, located in the Sharab Al Runa district, where the principal of the “Martyr Sadiq” government school and the agent, who was also his neighbour, clashed over the tree situated between their homes.
According to local sources, the argument escalated, leading the principal to fatally shoot both the vice-principal and his son, who was a student at the same school.
The crime has left the local community in shock and it’s still not known whether the culprit has been arrested or is at large. A recent report from Yemen’s internationally recognised Ministry of Interior revealed that over 16,500 criminal incidents were recorded in government-controlled areas last year, with 3,181 of those occurring in Taiz alone.
